She will soon be seen in the upcoming film, "Mama I Want To Sing," joining music legend Patti La Belle and outstanding newcomer Ciara, in a re-make of the off-Broadway play on the life of R&B singer Doris Troy.

"Wanted: A Few Good Men" presented by the Black Rep
From Obama to JFK, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. to Malcolm X, Frederick Douglas to Abraham Lincoln, Marvin Gaye to Tupac Shakur, this production presents and explores some of the great men - politicians, religious leaders and artists - who have impacted the African American experience and our society in general. Recommended for ages 12 and up.

"Olu's Dream...the Mini Musical"

Today we are taking Shane Evan's book "Olu's Dream" from the page to the stage. Students interested in art, theater, and music will not want to miss this one-of-a-kind workshop that will end in the production of a mini musical. Attendees will have the opportunity to collaborate with Shane Evans, who has many years experience working with a variety of authors and celebrities. Registration required. Space is limited. Julie Winch, "The Clamorgans: One Family's History of Race in America" Presented by the St. Louis County Library Special Collections

Department Historian Julie Winch uses the history of the Clamorgans of St. Louis to chronicle how one family navigated race in America from the 1780s through the 1950s. "The Clamorgans" is the true story of a multiracial dynasty whose enterprising members negotiated the fluid notion of race to further their own interests.

Children's Author Kadir Nelson

Kadir Nelson is an award-winning American artist whose works have been exhibited in major national and international publications, institutions, art galleries, and museums. Nelson has also gained acclaim for the artwork he has contributed to several New York Times best-selling picture books including his authorial debut, "We Are The Ship: The Story of Negro League Baseball," winner of the Coretta Scott King and Robert F. Sibert Awards. Nelson's most recent literary effort, "Heart and Soul: The Story of America and African-Americans," was published by HarperCollins in the fall of 2011.

African Storytelling & Percussion-COCA
Enjoy this integrated storytelling and musical performance with audience interaction. Mtendaji has been teaching music, storytelling and dance throughout the St. Louis area for 16 years through Springboard to Learning and COCA. He is an accomplished musician and performer of West African and Caribbean percussion instruments. All ages.

This version of "The Three Billy Goats Gruff" is about a creature that runs the mean, evil troll from the bridge. Three clever goats outsmart the mysterious creature; and the troll learns how it's not a good feeling to be afraid. Come and enjoy the puppet show with Papa and Jackie Wright presenting the program.
