In 1997, Raymond H. Banks produced a single copy of
his seven-volume reference, Births, 1873-1900; Part of an Ongoing Compilation of Male Birth
Information as Found in the Civilian Draft Registration Cards from World War I,
and placed it in the Family History Library in Salt Lake City, Utah. While this
resource acts as a compilation of birth information gathered from World War I Draft Registration Cards, the
"front matter" of the book is
also an excellent
comprehensive study of the World War I draft registration process and the civilian records that it
produced. His material is
especially helpful for genealogists working with
World War I Draft Registration Card
microfilms.
The
Special Collections Department of St.
Louis County Library would like to thank
Mr. Banks for granting permission to
reprint his introductory material from Births,
1873-1900 in electronic format on
this website and in paper format as a
finding aid for researchers in the
department.
Arrangement
of Material
For ease of use, Mr. Banks' material has been
separated into a number of web pages. The set of links
connecting the web pages containing his work
appears at the bottom of the shorter
pages and at the top and bottom of the
longer pages.
Currently, Special Collections holds microfilm copies of
World War I Draft Registration Cards for the following states:
