Independent Evangelical Protestant Church 1856– 11370 Old Halls Ferry Road Florissant, Missouri 63033 St. Louis County *It is important to note that if you do not find an early record in this microfilm, it might be worthwhile to check the records for Holy Ghost Evangelical Protestant Church.* The church was founded in 1856 as the Unabhangigen Evangelische Protestantischen Kirche, which in English translates to the Independent Evangelical Protestant Church. This was formed when the congregation split from Holy Ghost Evangelical Church while under the leadership of Frederick Picker. It was known under this name from 1856 until 1936 when it became the Independent Congregational Church. It used this second name from 1936 to 1998 even though it became part of the United Church of Christ in 1957. On May 31, 1998, it officially changed its name to Christ the King United Church of Christ.
