St. John's Evangelical Church 1838–
11333 St. John’s Church Road
Mehlville, Missouri 63123

Viewed as the "mother-church" of the Evangelical Synod (since 1840). Located twelve miles south of St. Louis. Built in the area that was once called the "Gravois Settlement," St. John’s was one of the earliest Evangelical churches in the area. Many of the early members came from Evangelical regions in Westphalia and Hanover.
