Louisiana Freedman Marriage Record 
Taken From Marriage Records of the Office of the Commissioner, Washington Headquarters of the Bureau of Refugees, Freedmen, and Abandoned Lands, 1861-1869 (M1875)

The marriage record of William and Mary J. Ballinger, shown below, is an example of a Louisiana marriage record sent to the headquarters of the Bureau of Refugees, Freedmen, and Abandoned Lands in Washington, D.C. which is included in microfilm set M1875. This microfilm set, part of the Julius K. Hunter & Friends African American Research Collection, is available in the Special Collections Department of St. Louis County Library. The Descriptive Pamphlet for M1875 is also available on this website.
