Shown to the left is an index card for Missouri Civil
War veteran Louis Laux, alias Louis Smith, alias Louis J. Bodine. In addition to
providing his basic pension application number, certificate number and date of
filing, the card tells that he served in the Ohio Cavalry, the Illinois Cavalry,
and the Missouri Infantry. It further records that he died in 1931 in Cape
Girardeau, Mo. See also example #1.
