St. Louis County Library has an extensive
collection of histories of St. Louis religious congregations. These
books were typically created by the congregations to help celebrate a
milestone such as a 75th or 100th
Anniversary.
No two of the histories are identical as to
content or scope. Some focus on the role of the various pastors or
rabbis, others the lay leaders. Often there are pictures of religious
leaders and various groups and committees. Sometimes a pictorial
directory of the congregation is included.
The Special Collections Department Staff is
creating every name indexes for these books. The links below will guide
you to the index for an individual church or synagogue.
