Index to Westliche Post Obituaries (St. Louis, Missouri)
This index is made possible by the volunteer work of Michael McDermott, working with Special Collections staff. The Westliche Post was a German-language newspaper published in St. Louis from 1857 to 1938. more

The obituaries are in German, written in a Gothic fraktur script (sample image) common to that time. A German obituary word list is available to assist researchers in deciphering key words.

The microfilm for this newspaper is located on Tier 4. Photocopies of these obituaries are available from Special Collections. This is a work in progress. Watch for additional years to be added.
