Organized originally as Emmanuel Lutheran Church in St. Joe, Illinois. It was a daughter congregation of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Wartburg, Illinois. In 1869 Emmanuel Lutheran moved to Glasgow City, later named Renault. At this point Emmanuel changed its name to Holy Cross Lutheran Church.

The records listed below are from Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Wartburg and include some early records for Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Renault.
