When
Harry Steinberg filed his final
papers for naturalization in St.
Louis, Mo. in 1908, he had to
provide proof that he had
previously filed his declaration
of intention. The proof he
submitted was a copy
of his declaration of intention
that he had filed 18 April 1903
in Hampden County,
Massachusetts. When he submitted
the copy of that document in
St. Louis, the court clerk
turned it over and recorded key
information on the back of it
about his naturalization (see
image at left). These notations
on the back of the document tell
that
-
He
filed this proof document
on 7 Mar 1908.
-
His
citizenship certificate
number was 67122 (marked
by red arrow).
-
His
certificate of
citizenship was issued on
5 June 1908.
Once
the certificate number is
known, then a copy of the certificate
stub can be sought as it may
contain further
information.
