To obtain a copy of an approved claim that has not been microfilmed, it is necessary to contact the National Archives to find out if the documents for that claim are still available. Not all claims have survived.
When making your request, be sure to send
- fact that you are seeking an approved Southern Claims Commission claim
- full name of the claimant
- commission claim number
- state from which claim was made
and in turn ask for
- the availability of the original documents for the claim
- a price quote for a photocopy of the documents
