Children's author and artist Kadir Nelson will speak at St. Louis County Library Headquarters on Friday, March 16 at 7:00 p.m. Mr. Nelson is author "Heart and Soul: The Story of America and African-Americans," winner of the 2012 Coretta Scott King Book Award. The program is free and open to the public. Doors open at 6:00 p.m. Seating is limited, so early arrival is suggested. Library Headquarters is located at 1640 S. Lindbergh Blvd. in Ladue.
Copies of Mr. Nelson's books will be available for purchase at the program from Left Bank Books.
Kadir Nelson is an American artist whose works have been exhibited in major national and international publications, institutions, art galleries and museums. Nelson has also gained acclaim for the artwork he has contributed to several New York Times best-selling picture books including his authorial debut, "We are the Ship: The Story of Negro League Baseball." Mr. Nelson's book, "Heart and Soul: The Story of America and African-Americans," recently won the 2012 Coretta Scott King Book Award.
