Kids and teens with eReaders will find it much easier to download items from St. Louis County Library's electronic collection starting January 31, 2014. A new service separates the electronic media for younger patrons into one virtual place of their own, making searching for age-appropriate material easy and quick. Kids and teens can browse, sample, place holds and borrow eBooks and other media without wading through lists of titles that are aimed at older audiences or at those with more advanced reading skills.
This service is called the eReading Room, and it is available from St. Louis County Library's website: overdrive.slcl.org/youth
. The program comes from Overdrive, one of the two vendors from which the library rents its eMedia collection.
eReading Room is free for St. Louis County Library cardholders.
In addition to the ease with which younger readers can access titles, parents can be sure that electronic material for adults will not be accessible in eReading Room.
