The St. Louis County Library Foundation is pleased to present famed St. Louis developer and founder of the St. Louis Walk of Fame Joe Edwards for a discussion and signing of his book "St. Louis Walk of Fame: 140 Great St. Louisans." The event will be Tuesday, April 29, 7:00 p.m. at Library Headquarters, 1640 S. Lindbergh Blvd.

The program is free and open to the public. Books will be available for purchase at the event from Subterranean Books. The event is co-sponsored by Maryville University.

The format of the event will be an onstage interview moderated by KTRS's McGraw Milhaven. Joe Edwards will be joined by his daughter and the book's designer, Hope Edwards.

Edwards' attractive and informative book features historic photographs and concise, incisive biographies of all 140 great St. Louisans who have a star on the St. Louis Walk of Fame in the University City Loop.

The book explains the nomination and selection processes and showcases fascinating full-color photographs of the induction ceremonies over the past 25 years. There are also many tables of information about the inductees helpfully organized by field of achievement, year of birth, and the location of stars along Delmar Blvd. Full-color regional and street maps offer a helpful guide to the area.

This book makes a great gift, a memorable souvenir or a dynamic addition to your coffee table. It stimulates great conversation and ideas while showcasing the prominent role St. Louisans have played in shaping our nation's culture and knowledge. Paging through you'll be sure to feel the urge to proclaim, "I'll bet you didn't know..."
Born and raised in St. Louis, Joe Edwards' creative vision, risk-taking and leadership have helped transform the Loop into one of the most vibrant restaurant, shopping and entertainment districts in the United States.

His businesses and developments include Blueberry Hill, the Pageant concert nightclub, the Pin-Up Bowl and the Moonrise Hotel. Joe has renovated numerous historic buildings and encouraged one-of-a-kind specialty shops, restaurants, and cultural institutions to make St. Louis their home. Currently he is spearheading the effort to bring back to The Loop a fixed-track, vintage trolley system which should be up and running in 2015.

Program sites are accessible. Upon two weeks notice, accommodations will be made for persons with disabilities. Contact St. Louis County Library by phone 314-994-3300 or visit www.slcl.org.
