The St. Louis County Library Foundation's author series is one of the best in the country. Where else can you meet bestselling writers at the top of their game, for free? The Foundation recently announced its summer line-up, which includes something for everyone--mystery fans, historians, teen readers, children and more. My top pick is Chris Cleave who will be at Library HQ on July 14. Cleave first visited SLCL in 2010 as part of Read St. Louis. His novel, "Little Bee," was the Fiction: New Voices selection for that year. The book is a haunting tale of a young refugee girl whose violent and courageous journey from a Nigerian beach to a suburban London home humanizes the plight of refugees worldwide. In his new book, "Gold," Cleave tackles a new subject entirely: the 2012 London Olympics, charting the friendship of two world-class athletes who must compete against one another, testing their physical and emotional limits.
Be sure and check out the full line-up authors visiting the library this summer on the Foundation's Meet the Author blog. Hope to see you at an upcoming event!
