Online guide to St. Louis sources in the Special Collections Department

In late 1876, the City of St. Louis separated from St. Louis County. The city and county have remained two totally separate governmental entities since that time, an important fact in understanding how records are titled and which ones need to be consulted. More information about the split and how it affects research is available elsewhere on this website.

The following is a list of online indexes and finding aids to St. Louis City and County sources held by the Special Collections Department.
