OverDrive Media Console v3.0

On August 20, 2013, OverDrive rolled out a new version of the OverDrive Media Console (OMC) App for Android and iOS (iPhone, iPad, iPod touch).

Some features include:

  •  A redesigned user interface with an all-new look, streamlined navigation, and a one-stop reorganized menu.

  • Sync bookmarks and reading progress across multiple devices using a free, opt-in registration service called OverDrive One.

  • Variable speed playback for iOS. Audiobook users' most requested feature.

System Requirements: OMC v3.0 for Android users requires Android OS v4.0 (or newer). OMC for Android v2.6.5 will remain available for download. OMC for iOS requires iOS 6 (or newer).

The operating system for the original iPad is only updatable to version 5.1.1. This means that the new OverDrive Media Console App v3.0 will not work on the original iPad, as it requires iOS 6 or newer. If you already have OMC installed on your iPad, it will continue to work. Since only one version of the app is allowed in the Apple App Store at a time, if you're a new customer with the original iPad you will be unable to download the OMC app.

If you would like to read eBooks on your iPad, you will need to use the OverDrive READ format / Read (in your browser) option:
  • Once the book is open in the browser, you can download the title for offline reading by swiping down from the top of the book to bring up the menu.
  • Tap the cloud icon and then tap download.
  • When the book is downloaded, tap the book to return to the title.
  • For easy access, tap the share icon and choose 'Add Bookmark' or 'Add to Home screen.'
If you would like to get eAudiobooks on your iPad, you will need to download and transfer titles from your computer using the OverDrive Media Console software.
