The program is free and open to the public. Books will be available for purchase at the event from the publisher, Reedy Press.
"Graham and Jet Get Wet: The Wonders of Weather" tells the story of young Graham, who experiences a destructive thunderstorm. After the storm passes, Jet, a friendly hawk, takes the boy on an exploratory journey into the clouds. They chase the thunderstorm and, through their adventure, Graham learns a lesson about weather that he'll never forget. He watches the natural forces of Mother Nature at work and ultimately discovers how people can put together what weather tears apart. Complemented by charming illustration, this heartwarming story reveals how fears are calmed through understanding. The book includes descriptions of gust fronts, hail, thunder and lightning, water vapor and other weather developments for readers seeking information beyond the story.
Dave Murray decided to become a meteorologist in 4th grade. He became the first nightly weathercaster who was a meteorologist on the NBC affiliated station in St. Louis when he was 26. National viewers got to know Dave as the daily weathercaster for ABC'S "Good Morning America," "World News This Morning," and the ABC Radio Network. Murray holds 12 Emmy awards for excellence in weather forecasting, and is currently Chief Meteorologist for FOX Television in St. Louis.
Janis Murray is a writer and former correspondent for CNN in New York and has 30 years' experience as a television news reporter including NBC stations in Detroit and St. Louis. Currently, she works with students as president of Murray Prep LLC providing communication training services nationwide.
