Todd Snider has been penning witty, thoughtful, and at times hilarious songs for almost twenty years. While he falls into the category of folk singer/Americana, Snider's songs range from soulful ballads to angry, rocking numbers. All of his songs have the potential to stir your emotions. Snider can range from a lovely song about a quiet drive with his wife to a hilarious song about a not-so-quiet drive with his wife ("All of My Life"), the ensuing road rage, and a trip to the county jail ("Tillamook County Jail"). He uses his life experiences to express the angst, the pain, the fun, and the excitement of living in America at this very moment.
Todd Snider will be performing at The Sheldon on January 13, 2012. His performances are peppered with stories about the songs he plays, as well as stories that he just feels the need to tell. His politics and opinions, prevalent in his music, also bleed into the performance. The library has several of Snider's discs in the collection. Two of them, "The Devil You Know" and "The Excitement Plan" showcase Snider's range and songwriting ability. Pick up a CD or two and then check him out live. You will not be disappointed.
