Cultural Connections 2008!

Join us as we visit different countries to learn about people all over the world through music, dance, and traditional costume. Our travels will take us to Ireland, Scandinavia, Polynesia, China, Ivory Coast and Egypt. Programs are recommended for children 7 - 12 years old, but all family members are welcome to attend.  Registration is required. Please call the branch or stop by the circulation desk to sign up.

Metro Theater Company presents a set of brand new fables by one of America's most imaginative playwrights introduces young audiences to a colorful cast of animal characters. Each story end with a very simple - and utterly unpredictable - moral: Eat your vegetables. Share. Don't count on your looks. Thinking fast beats running fast. When you love somebody, say no. Colleen Neuman's Fables is a great way to spark interest in the literary form and inspire students to write their own! Recommended for all ages.

Metro Theater Company presents New Kid
Back by popular demand, New Kid tells the story of Nick, a newcomer to this country. As he struggles to learn the language, find his fit with different customs, and make new friends, Nick's struggle with a bully named Mug really puts him to the test. Dennis Foon's imaginative script uses an invented gibberish language to help audiences identify with the difficulty of Nick's experience in this new place. Recommend for all ages.

Once Upon a Clock by Madcap Puppets
Dare to enter the world of Once Upon align Time with Alvis and Sydney, two kids attempting to unlock the secrets of their uncle's mysterious clock shop. Each time they climb through his magical grandfather clock, they are swept to a land of exciting stories like The Frog Prince (Germany), Sanji and the Tiger (India), and The Feathered Ogre (Italy) - each more heart pounding than the last. But these adventures may trap them in the clock forever! Can they escape? Not without help from the audience! Recommended for ages 4-12, family audiences.

Join the Cats Paw Puppet troupe for a trio of stories: The Scarecrow's Secret, Stone Soup, and Too Much Noise. Each tale is filled with humor and a valuable lesson. Recommended for ages 3 and up. Families are welcome.
