How It Works:

1. Sign up for the teen summer reading club starting May 12 at your local branch.

2. Keep track of your reading online or pick up a log sheet at any SLCL location. Books, magazines, graphic novels and audiobooks all count!

3. When you complete a level, visit a branch to collect your reward. 

The summer reading club ends Saturday, August 2. Prizes must be redeemed by Saturday, August 9.

Learn about the wholesome and tasty possibilities of meatless food preparation! Each meeting will feature a potluck and discussion on dietary choices and food options. The club meets every fourth Thursday of the month. Ages 12-Adult.

Milo, a young boy with little interest in anything, takes a trip through the Phantom Tollbooth to the Lands Beyond where he meets an enchanting cast of characters that teaches him the importance of words, numbers, ideas, creativity, and enthusiasm for life. Read the book then join us for a discussion, a snack, and a fun activity.

Directed by Jennifer Shew, the NaNoWriMo municipal liaison, the workshops are offered in October to prepare you on your novel writing journey. A combination writing tips presentation and question-and-answer session, this workshop provides advice on how to manage your writing time and maximize your progress.

Bring your chessboard and enjoy playing chess with others at the Thornhill Branch. The chess club will meet the second and fourth Saturday of every month. Ages 8-Adult.

Learn the ins and outs of aerosol art. Express your creative side while using spray paint cans, rollers, and other graffiti art tools. Ages 12-18. Registration required.

Come and learn about the history, culture and science of henna skin decoration. Each teen attending will receive a temporary small henna tattoo on the hand and may try making a design on paper as time permits. Henna tattoos are all natural, pain free, and generally last 1-3 weeks.
Grades 6-12. Registration required.

A safe, structured program to improve academic performance and offer enrichment activities for students, ages 8-15, during after school hours. Students may not participate without an application form signed by their parent or guardian.
