Food for Fines a Huge Success

The 2008 Food for Fines program collected 26,920 pounds of food during National Library Week, April 14 - 20. This year raised over 2,000 pounds more than 2007! St. Louis County Library customers were able to subtract $1 per donated item off their fines, up to $10 per person. Operation Food Search will distribute the food to thousands of local families. Thanks to all who participated!
 

Third Annual Suspense Night Returns in June

St. Louis County Library Foundation, Starbucks Coffee Company, and Borders present "Suspense Night: An Evening of Thrills and Chills with Six Renowned Mystery Writers," Thursday, June 5, at 7:00 p.m. at Library Headquarters. Top mystery writers Reed Farrel Coleman, Megan Abbott, Ridley Pearson, Scott Phillips, Susan McBride, and Michael Kahn will read from recent work and discuss their craft. Starbucks will provide complimentary coffee and dessert. The program is free and open to the public.
 

The Devil Wears Prada Author Lauren Weisberger at Library Headquarters

The St. Louis County Library Foundation and ALIVE Magazine are pleased to present internationally bestselling author of The Devil Wears Prada Lauren Weisberger for a discussion and signing of her latest novel Chasing Harry Winston on Friday, June 6, at 7:00 p.m. The discussion will be an on-stage interview with Elizabeth Tucker, publisher of ALIVE magazine. more information
 

Summer Reading Club Fun

Starting Monday, June 2, kids and teens can join the St. Louis County Library Summer Reading Club by signing up at their local branch. Children up to grade 5 are invited to "Catch the Reading Bug." While the theme for the Teen Summer Reading Club is "Metamorphosis @ Your Library." Great prizes and events all summer long!
