The St. Louis County Library provides service to 49 elementary schools a month via three bookmobiles. Children use their SLCL cards to check out materials from the bookmobile. Seniors in the St. Louis County Library District receive mobile service in a variety of ways. Two senior service vans bring library materials to senior citizens in retirement centers and nursing home facilities. Library staff bring a selection of popular titles, large-print, DVDs, music CDs, magazines and audiobooks. Specific items can be requested for delivery.
Bookmobile 5 is a full-size bookmobile serving senior retirement complexes and community locations. Bookmobile 5 customers can select from a broad range of materials, including popular titles for children and adults, magazines, DVDs and audiobooks. Library material can be requested for delivery to the bookmobile for convenient pick-up.
Bookmobile staff can issue library cards. Library cards are free for anyone who lives, works or goes to school in St. Louis County. Books checked out on the bookmobile have a four-week loan period and may be returned to the bookmobile or to any SLCL branch.

The Preschool Outreach Program (POP) van visits 105 licensed daycare centers and Head Start programs a month. Specially designed early childhood literacy kits are delivered to each of the facilities visited. Centers may request one kit for each of the classrooms in the facility and keep them for four weeks. Teachers and center directors may request specific theme kits at the start of each school semester. Those who do not request a particular theme will receive a bag of variety books not based on any particular theme (POP Shuffle) throughout the year. You may request a visit from the POP van by calling 314-994-3300, emailing firstname.lastname@example.org or clicking here to fill out an online request form.
