St. Louis County Library Foundation’s Westfall Politics & History Series presents historian Scott W. Berg for a discussion and signing of “The Burning of the World: The Great Chicago Fire and the War for a City’s Soul.” The event will take place on Wednesday, October 4, at 7:00 p.m. at the Daniel Boone Branch of the St. Louis County Library, 300 Clarkson Road, Ellisville, MO 63011. St. Louis County Library Foundation’s Favorite Author Series and The Novel Neighbor are pleased to host a special event with cold case criminal investigator and true crime podcast host Paul Holes for a discussion of “Unmasked: My Life Solving America’s Cold Cases.” The event will take place on Saturday, October 7, 7:00 p.m. at the Ethical Society of St. Louis, 9001 Clayton Rd, St. Louis MO 63117.

St. Louis County Library has received funding from the Emergency Connectivity Fund (ECF) to provide 1,000 internet connected Chromebooks to eligible residents. The devices come preloaded with unlimited data through June 30, 2024. Any resident in the St. Louis County Library District is eligible to apply, particularly those who lack the equipment and services to access the internet. Applications will be accepted through SLCL’s website September 19 through October 1, 2023 at www.slcl.org/chromebooks.

St. Louis County Library will host the 44th annual St. Louis Storytelling Festival from October 18-28, 2023. The festival will include performances by nationally renowned storytellers as well as writing workshops, dance performances, puppetry, songwriting tutorials, ghost stories, folklore and more. Storytelling Festival events will take place at a variety of venues through the St. Louis region, including SLCL branch locations, the Missouri History Museum and the St. Louis Ethical Society. All events are free and open to the public.

St. Louis County Library and Affinia Healthcare are partnering to offer Medicaid sign-up events at three SLCL branches this fall. Representatives from Affinia Healthcare will be available to help individuals sign up or re-enroll for Medicaid benefits on a weekly basis starting in September.
