Emma is going to school for the very first time as a fifth grader. She’s always been homeschooled, but her older brother Owen decided to go to public school, and Emma’s been feeling lonely without him. So she hopes to make some friends at school. The night before school starts, she helps her dad rescue a trapped rabbit, and they decide to keep it. Will Lapi end up being Emma’s only friend? Or will she learn how to be the friend other people need? This is a story of new people, new places, and what it means to have a friend and be a friend, no matter what.
