The 2014 Ebola epidemic in Liberia revealed how unprepared we are for the outbreak of infectious disease. Somewhere in nature, a not-yet-detected killer virus has the potential to wipe out millions. In “The End of Epidemics,” Chair of the Global Health Council Dr. Jonathan Quick examines the eradication of smallpox and devastating effects of AIDS, SARS, and Ebola. Analyzing efforts to contain these diseases, Dr. Quick proposes a new set of actions to end epidemics before they can begin.
