St. Louis County Library will begin another round of renovations at three locations this fall as part of the Your Library Renewed campaign. To date, 14 branches have been renovated or replaced as part of Your Library Renewed, a multi-year capital campaign to renovate or replace 19 branches within the Library District. Phase II continues this fall and winter, when three branches close for construction: Grand Glaize, Mid-County and Thornhill. Details about the projects can be found at www.slcl.org/your-library-renewed or by calling 314-994-3300.
The Grand Glaize Branch will close for construction on Saturday, October 28 at 5:00 p.m. Patrons should visit the Daniel Boone Branch during the temporary closure. Construction is expected to last 6-9 months. This timeline is subject to change.
Closing information for the Mid-County and Thornhill locations will be announced at a later date.
Several new features will be introduced at the renovated branches, including enhanced children’s areas with family restrooms, private study rooms, designated teen spaces and collaborative work areas. The renovated branches will also have a commons area with vending machines and tables. Renovated locations will also receive new furniture and carpeting, new public computers and comfortable seating.
Construction on all of the new and renovated buildings in Phase II of the Your Library Renewed campaign is expected to be complete by the end of 2018. The timeline is subject to change based on weather conditions and other factors.
The Your Library Renewed campaign is funded by proceeds from a 2012 tax initiative.
