Another round of renovations will begin this fall at three locations as part of the Your Library Renewed campaign. To date, 14 branches have been renovated or replaced as part of Your Library Renewed, a multi-year capital campaign to renovate or replace 19 branches within the Library District. Phase II continues in fall and winter 2017, when three branches close for construction: Grand Glaize, Mid-County and Thornhill. The following locations will close at 5:00 p.m. on the date listed:
Grand Glaize–October 28, 2017
Mid-County–November 18, 2017
During construction, patrons will be directed to nearby SLCL locations where they can pick up holds and receive normal library service.
Grand Glaize patrons are being to directed to the Daniel Boone Branch.
Mid-County patrons are being to directed to the Indian Trails Branch.
Thornhill patrons will be directed to the Bridgeton Trails Branch.
Construction is expected to last 6-9 months. This timeline is subject to change.
Several new features will be introduced at the renovated branches, including enhanced children’s areas with family restrooms, private study rooms, designated teen spaces and collaborative work areas. The renovated branches will also have a commons area with vending machines and tables. Renovated locations will also receive new furniture and carpeting, new public computers and comfortable seating.
Construction on all of the new and renovated buildings in Phase II of the Your Library Renewed campaign is expected to be complete by the end of 2018. The timeline is subject to change based on weather conditions and other factors.
