Cholera in St. Louis

The year 1849 saw a cholera epidemic sweep up the Mississippi River and take the lives of nearly five thousand St. Louisans, or one-tenth of the population of the city. This presentation will examine the factors that contributed to the epidemic and its impact on the immigrant population.
