To the framers of the Constitution, political parties were a fatal threat to republican virtues. Yet parties emerged even before the Constitution was ratified. Brands has crafted a lively narrative of the early years of the republic.H.W. Brands talk will start at 6:30 p.m. followed by a book signing session at 7:30 p.m.
