St. Louis County Library is now a part of MOBIUS–a partnership of libraries providing patrons with access to over 60 million items from academic, special and public libraries. Patrons can request MOBIUS materials through the MOBIUS online catalog with delivery to their local branch in less than five days. Learn more.
St. Louis County Library will celebrate LGBTQ Pride Month with special programming throughout June. Events include rainbow story time, film and book discussions, dance parties, pride-themed craft programs and more. Learn more.
SLCL and Operation Food Search are teaming up to provide lunches to children again this summer. Starting June 3, nine SLCL branches will offer a nutritious lunch along with activities for kids from 12:00–1:00 p.m., Monday–Friday. Meals will be available free of charge for children 18 and under. The summer lunch program will be offered at Bridgeton Trails, Florissant Valley, Indian Trails, Jamestown Bluffs, Lewis & Clark, Natural Bridge, Prairie Commons, Rock Road and Weber Road. Learn more.
The new children’s garden at the Thornhill Branch will open to the public on Thursday, May 23, 2019. There will be an outdoor story time at 10:30 a.m., followed by a ribbon-cutting at 11:00 a.m. Families can access the enclosed space directly from the children’s area of the library. The outdoor area includes interactive features that kids will enjoy including art easels, oversized musical instruments (drums and xylophones), and a flower shaped play structure. Learn more.
The new Meramec Valley Branch will open on Wednesday, May 15, 2019 at 9:00 a.m. The new branch is located at 1501 San Simeon and features a Discovery Zone for kids, an outdoor reading deck, private study rooms, a community meeting room and other amenities. The old location at 625 New Smizer Mill Road will close to the public at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 27. Learn more.
St. Louis MetroMarket will visit the Lewis & Clark Branch every Thursday from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. starting May 2 offering fresh, affordable produce, along with recipe ideas and meal planning assistance. The kick-off event on May 2 will feature cooking demonstrations by Red Circle, including a make-your-own salad bar; a chance to win $500 vouchers from MissouriCare; and a visit from the People’s Health Center mobile clinic which provides free insurance education, blood pressure screenings, eye exams and behavioral health information.
