Starting February 26, the Lewis & Clark Branch will be the third location to offer after school meals. Operation Food Search provides a healthy grab and go light meal to children Monday-Friday at the Lewis & Clark, Weber Road and Natural Bridge branches. Stop by after school and enjoy a free meal along with activities for kids and teens, such as LEGOs, crafts and movies. Meals will be available free of charge for children ages 5-18. Learn more.
We Stories Discussion Kits help families discuss issues of race and cultural diversity. The kits include 46 different books, interactive activities and a discussion guide. Each kit is centered on a different theme such as, "Everybody Counts," "Girl Power," "Celebrating the Skin You're In" and "Who are the People in Your Neighborhood." Learn more.
If you have a child born in January, February or March of 2017 your child is invited to a very special 1st birthday party. Parents and children who attend will receive a free book to take home, courtesy of the library’s Born to Read program. The parties will feature snacks, stories and fun activities for parents and kids. Learn more.
The Bridgeton Trails Branch will be open on Sundays from 1:00-5:00 p.m. starting February 4, 2018. Currently, three branches are closed for construction, including one that offered Sunday hours. We're offering additional Sunday hours at the Bridgeton Trails Branch to help ease the inconvenience of these closures. Parent Packs offer parents and caregivers quick access to topics that kids (and adults) have questions about. Each pack contains books and other information on topics such as the “First Day of School,” “Death,” “Potty Training,” “Friendship” and “Where do Babies Come From.” Parent Packs are available at six locations, and can be checked out for two weeks. St. Louis County Library has been ranked as a four star library in the Library Journal Index of Public Library Service for the fourth consecutive year. SLCL is the only library in the St. Louis area to be included in the index this year, and one of six in the state of Missouri. The rank of four stars indicates a high per capita use in four major areas of library service: library visits, circulation, program attendance, and public Internet computer use.

The Thornhill Branch will close for construction at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 6 as part of the Your Library Renewed campaign. A new, 20,000 square foot building will be built on the existing site. Construction is expected to last 9-12 months. Patrons should visit the Bridgeton Trails Branch during the temporary closure.
