St. Louis County Library Hosts Reentry Resource Fair
St. Louis County Library is hosting a Reentry Resource Fair on Thursday, February 27 from 12:30-2:00 p.m. at the Natural Bridge Branch, located at 7606 Natural Bridge Rd., St. Louis, MO 63121. The event will provide vital resources to address the needs of people returning to their communities from incarceration and their families.
Fifteen organizations will be participating in this one-stop-shop event to assist attendees with employment, housing, obtaining identification documents, bench warrant resolution assistance, accessing state benefits, food assistance, access to healthcare including mental health and substance abuse treatment and more.
Attendees can also learn about a variety of resources available from St. Louis County Library including meeting with a social worker, earning a high school diploma, technology assistance, computer classes, job search help, resume building, and small business development.
SLCL has been offering services for the justice involved for several years. Staff have been visiting the St. Louis County Juvenile Detention Center since 2017, offering book discussion programs, STEM activities and DIY craft projects. SLCL’s Reference by Mail service answers informational requests from correctional facilities from all over Missouri. In 2024, librarians answered over 1,424 letters and answered over 9,000 questions from Missouri correctional facilities and Federal correctional facilities across the country. SLCL provides books and virtual programming to those in custody at the St. Louis County Justice Center, as well as library cards and information about library services upon release. Additionally, SLCL partners with several justice involved organizations to host a Tap In Center where individuals can get free legal assistance, including having their warrants recalled. To date over 1,650 warrants have been resolved.
