How to Check Out Adobe EPUB eBooks from the St. Louis County Library and Put Them on Your Android Device.
*Instructions may vary slightly depending on your specific device.

Getting Started

You will need a valid library card and PIN to check out eBooks.

Getting an Adobe ID

  1. To use Adobe eBooks from the Library you must have an Adobe ID.  If you do not already have an Adobe ID go to www.adobe.com.
  2. In the upper right hand corner press Sign In.
  3. A webpage will open containing the Adobe Sign In page.
  4. Press the Create an Adobe Account button.
  5. Enter all required fields on the Join Adobe page.
  6. Scroll down and review all selection boxes.  Uncheck any boxes for services you do not wish to receive.
  7. When ready, press the Continue button at the bottom of the page.
  8. Press the Continue button on the Thank You page.
  9. Remember the email and password you used for your Adobe ID, you will need it again below.

Installing the OverDrive Media Console App

  1. Before you may check out your first eBook, you will need to install the free OverDrive Media Console App onto your Android device.  
  2. Search the Android Market for OverDrive Media Console.
  3. Once you find it, press Download or Install on the right side to download the app.
  4. Then press Accept and Download.
  5. Once it has installed, open the OverDrive Media Console App.
  6. Press Menu, then App Settings.
  7. Enter the email address for your Adobe ID and your Adobe account Password.
  8. Press Authorize.

Getting to the St. Louis County Library OverDrive Collection

  1. Press Menu, then Get Books.
  2. Press Add a Website.
  3. Type in your zip code.
  4. Choose any St. Louis County Library location.
  5. That location's information is displayed. 
  6. Tap the star to save the St. Louis County Library to your "Get Books" list.
  7. Press St. Louis County Library.
  8. The mobile version for the St. Louis County Library OverDrive webpage is displayed.

Signing on to Your OverDrive Account

  1. Before you can check out an eBook, log onto your OverDrive account.  To do this, press Login or My Account at the top of the screen.
  2. Enter your library card number in the Library card number field and your PIN in the PIN field.
  3. Press the Login button.
  4. The My Account or My Digital Account page will display.
  5. Press the Browse button to browse the Library's eBook collection or Search to type in the author or title of a book and press Go to see if it is available.

Checking Out eBooks

  1. When you find a book you like, press the add to BookBag link.
  2. The My BookBag page will display showing the book you selected.
  3. Press the Continue Browsing link to select additional eBooks.
  4. When you have selected all the eBooks you wish to borrow, press the Proceed to Checkout link.
  5. The Check Out page will display.
  6. Select the Lending period for the title.
  7. To remove one or more books from your list, press the remove link next to the title.
  8. When you are ready to check out, press the Confirm check out button.
  9. The Download page will display.
  10. Press the Download button for each eBook you wish to borrow.
  11. Loading Title is displayed.  When finished, Title Added is displayed then disappears.
  12. Press the title to open the book.
  13. That's it!  Your library books are now ready for many hours of reading enjoyment.  And don't worry about overdue fees.  Your library books will automatically expire at the end of the lending period you selected.

Returning eBooks Early

  1. In Bookshelf view, press the plus sign to the right of the title.
  2. Press Return/Delete.
  3. If you are sure you want to return the title, press Return then Delete.

Learn More

  1. When in the title, press the middle of the page lightly to check progress.
  2. Press Menu to navigate between chapters, change Reader settings, add bookmarks, and return or delete titles.
