St. Louis County Library Foundation’s Reading Garden Series for Young Audiences and the Novel Neighbor are pleased to present popular YA novelist Ryan La Sala for a discussion and signing of his latest thriller, “Beholder.”

The event will take place on Thursday, October 5, 7:00 p.m. at the Grant’s View Branch, 9700 Musick Road, St. Louis MO 63123.

The program is free and open to the public. Books will be available for purchase at the event from the Novel Neighbor. Recommended for teen and adult audiences.

From Ryan La Sala, author of the tantalizingly twisted “The Honeys” and riotously imaginative “Reverie,” comes a chilling new contemporary fable.

No one survived the party at the penthouse. Except Athan.

Athanasios “Athan” Bakirtzis has made it far in life relying on his charm and good looks, even securing an invitation to a mysterious penthouse soiree for New York City’s artsy elite. But when he sneaks off to the bathroom, he hears a slam, followed by a scream. Athan peers outside, only to be pushed back in by a boy his age. The boy gravely tells him not to open the door, then closes Athan in.

Outside the door, the party descends into chaos. When he finally emerges, he discovers he is the only known survivor of a massacre—and now the primary suspect.

In a race to prove his innocence, Athan is swept up in a supernatural mystery. Something evil is waking up in the walls of New York City, and it is compelling victims toward violence. Bound to him by a mysterious hereditary power, Athan has felt this evil hiding behind his reflection his entire life, watching him. Waiting. Now, it’s taking over.

Ryan La Sala is the author of the bestselling young adult horror novel, “The Honeys,” which is development to become a major motion picture with Anonymous Content. He is also the author of “Reverie” and “Be Dazzled.” He has been featured in the New York Times Book Review, NPR, and Tor.com.
