The Small Business Launchpad is an 8-week entrepreneurship program designed for formerly incarcerated individuals who are interested in starting or growing a small business. This program supports aspiring entrepreneurs and early-stage business owners with prior state or federal convictions as they learn the fundamentals of launching and operating a business.

Through expert-led workshops and presentations, participants will build practical business skills and receive program materials provided by SLCL.
 

Program Details

  • Thursdays, August 6 - September 24, 2026
  • Evenings from 5:30-7:30 p.m.
  • Small Business Center, Clark Family Branch

At the conclusion of the program, participants will pitch their business ideas for an opportunity to receive startup funding.

The Small Business Launchpad is generously sponsored by the Clark Family and the St. Louis Port Authority.

By the End of the Program, Participants Will:

  • Clarify their business idea and commit to next steps
  • Identify target customers and validate their concept
  • Build a practical, action-driven business plan
  • Understand credit, funding, and financial options
  • Apply core marketing strategies to reach customers
  • Develop a sales approach and revenue plan
  • Organize operations and implement basic systems
  • Confidently pitch their business in a final competition

Application Open: May 1-June 26
Notification Date: Applicants will be contacted in July

Spots are limited. Selected applicants will be invited to interview.

A library card is not required to apply. However, participants must have a current library card to access small business databases and to check out equipment such as laptops or hotspots if needed.
