The Library of Things is a collection of non-traditional materials including musical instruments, fishing equipment, games, kits, puzzles and more - all available to check out for free with a library card. Take a look at our musical instruments available for check-out! A a valid library card is required and instruments may be borrowing for 3 weeks.

Learning to play an instrument has been shown to improve memory, increase coordination and boost reading and comprehension skills. The musical instrument lending program allows you to experiment with new instruments before deciding to purchase one.

This musical instrument lending program is supported in part by Ukulele Fight Club of Greater St. Louis, a group of local musicians of all skill levels who mean on a monthly basis to sing and play music together.
