Celebrating Poetry Collection & Contest

In celebration of National Poetry Month, submit your original poems for inclusion in the St. Louis County Library poetry compilation available in the eMedia collection of the Indie Author Project. From the collected poems, a judge from Saint Louis Poetry Center will determine a winner for each age group to be featured in the collection.

Inspired by Jamaica Kincaid

In honor of this year’s St. Louis Literary Award recipient Jamaica Kincaid, we wanted you to share with us work you have created based on Jamaica Kincaid’s influential and enduring work, "Girl". We accepted submissions of fiction, creative nonfiction or memoir under 500 words for inclusion in our eMedia collection.

Indie Author Project

The Indie Author Project (IAP) allows local authors to upload their work for inclusion into the Indie Missouri collection, available to all participating Missouri libraries. Submissions will also be considered for the IAP Select collection. Titles chosen for the IAP Select collection are available to participating libraries nationwide.

Indie Author Project Contest

Through this contest, libraries are helping indie authors get the recognition they deserve for writing great books.

For authors, this contest is a powerful way to elevate your careers and writing goals, powered by the library community. Along with the accolade of the award and its perks, being recognized by librarians creates credibility and visibility for indie authors, setting them apart in a growing marketplace of digital content and indie-published books.

Submissions open April 1-May 31, 2024.
