1000 Books Before Kindergarten encourages families and caregivers to read 1000 books with their young children before they enter kindergarten.

Book Buddies pairs teens and kids with the goal of improving kids’ confidence in their reading skills. Kids in grades K-3 are matched with teen volunteers and spend 30 minutes each week reading aloud during the 6-week series.

The Born to Read program provides new parents at participating hospitals and clinics in St. Louis County with a bag containing a book and early literacy information, as well as other items.

COVID-19 test kits from the St. Louis County Department of Public Health are available at nine branches. Kits can picked up at the circulation desk during regular library hours.

St. Louis County Library is partnering with the St. Louis Area Diaper Bank to provide families in need with a supply of diapers and training pants for children ages 3 and under each month at select library branches.

Eye Thrive will offer free eye exams and glasses at two SLCL locations this summer. Any child age 4-18 is eligible for an eye exam and glasses.

Flow kits from the St. Louis Alliance for Period Supplies are available at select branches. Each free kit contain 20 period supplies.
