Coding 101

Coding 101 is a four-week workshop that teaches kids ages 10-14 basic programming skills. Upon graduation, students receive a Chromebook and a t-shirt. In order to be eligible to earn a free computer, participants must attend every class. Participants will be chosen by lottery. Entries accepted April 15-21.

St. Louis County Library Foundation and the JCC of St. Louis are pleased to host an SLCL Authors @ the J event with bestselling psychological suspense author Sally Hepworth for a discussion and signing of her latest thriller, “Darling Girls.” The event will take place on Monday, April 29, at 7:00 p.m. at the JCC’s Staenberg Family Center – Mirowitz Performing Arts Center, 2 Millstone Campus Drive, St. Louis, MO 63146. The program is free and open to the public. Books will be available for purchase at the event from The Novel Neighbor.

Clark Family Branch

St. Louis County Library is pleased to announce the grand opening of the new Clark Family Branch, located at 1640 S. Lindbergh Blvd. in Ladue. The opening will occur in two phases. On June 1, the Post Event Space will open to the public at 1:00 p.m. for a ticketed event with Darius Rucker, of Hootie and the Blowfish and country music fame; he will discuss his new memoir, “Life’s Too Short.” On Tuesday, July 9, an official ribbon cutting ceremony for the Clark Family Branch will be held at 9:00 a.m. and the entire branch will open to the public immediately following.

St. Louis County Library Foundation’s Favorite Author Series and Left Bank Books are pleased to host a special event with acclaimed novelist Amy Tan for a discussion and signing of her new book “The Backyard Bird Chronicles.” The event will take place on Saturday, May 11, 7:00 p.m. at the Ethical Society of St. Louis, 9001 Clayton Rd. St. Louis MO 63117. Amy Tan will be in conversation with Joan E. Strassmann, Washington University Professor of Biology and author of “Slow Birding: The Art and Science of Enjoying the Birds in Your Own Backyard.”
